Objective To study the infection status of body lice among the middle and primary school students in rural areas and to explore the relationship between the infection and personal or social factors. Methods 758 rural students were recruited in Bengbu. The eggs, nymph or adults of Pediculus humanus corporis in the seams and folds of clothes were examined by eyes. Students were surveyed about the factors including personal hygiene habits, parents' educational level and occupation, living conditions and the number of family children by questionnaire.
