GMC has successively communicated in terms of academic affairs with Columbia University, U.K. Royal College of General Practitioners, San Francisco State University and Université de Bretagne Occidentale, etc. These dozens of years have seen that over 50 groups of overseas scholars, who totaled over 80 person-times, have been invited to Guangzhou Medical College for the purpose of academic communication. And a long-term academic communication and cooperation between Guangzhou Medical College and foreign as well as Hongkong famous neuroscience research centers, for instance Institute of Neurosciences and Gereology of California University, School of Medicines of Indiana University, Neuroscience Center of University of Memphis in Tennessee, School of Medicines of London University, Hongkong University, Hongkong Chinese University and Hongkong University of Science and Technology, etc., is bridged.

我院全面贯彻广州医学院第九次党代会精神，大力加强对外合作，积极开展对外交流，不断提高学院国际化水平，自2005年以来先后与美国加州大学、美国西北理工大学、英国皇家全科医学院、美国哥伦比亚大学、美国旧金山州立大学、法国西布列塔尼大学等高等院校或研究部门开展学术交流活动，建立了良好的合作关系；接待国外学者50余批、80多人次到所讲学和交流；与国外和香港有名的神经科学中心或学科（如美国加州大学神经科学与老年研究所、印地安那州大学医学院、田纳西州孟菲斯神经科学中心、英国伦敦大学医学院、香港大学、香港中文大学、香港科技大学等）建立了长期的学术交往与合作关系，增强信息交流，建立人才培训渠道。

Starting with the developments of the author\'s creation, the dissertation follows up the scent of the occurring of his novels and the\'track of his psychology of creation, holding the opinion that there exists an intuitive psychological tendency in Faulkner\'s creation which the author is not aware of. It is the autonomous complex that leads the author to go beyond his limitations and to reflect a deeper collective unconsciousness.Faulkner\'s novels and their respective themes are closely connected with the inferiority complex caused by American culture, the author\'s physique and his living conditions. They are the results of his inferiority complex that accumulates into some kind of superiority complex.Because of the southern American\'s special history and politics and his sufferings Faulkner is deeply absorbed in the southern wasteland and invented Yoknapatawpha County, making it a place where he can do whatever he wants to do to counteract the lack in his real life. He concerns himself not only in the description of the Southern spiritual wasteland, but also in mining the aesthetic meaning of the wasteland, both to him and to the human beings.

This dissertation intends to probe into James's reflection and reconstruction of American culture by analyzing four of his great novels. It argues that Henry James, on reflecting the American cultural tradition based on Emersonian ideas, and following Matthew Arnold's great vision of cultural combination, put forward an ideal cultural pattern combining the American freedom and morality with the European intelligence and aesthetic experience. Henry James's cultural conceptualization is, in this sense, a supplement to the traditional American idealistic individualism.

论文认为，詹姆斯在对以爱默生为代表的美国传统文化思想进行反思的基础上，以马修·阿诺德(Matthew Arnold，1822-1888)的文化融合思想作为借鉴的对象，提出了一种融美国的自由精神、道德力量与欧洲的经验、审美于一体的理想的文化模式，这一构思是对美国传统理想型个人主义思想的补充与完善。
