悔改

On this 3rd Sunday of Advent, we find the Prophet Zephaniah, who is one of the minor prophets of the Old Testament, announcing to Israel a time of rejoicing!

今天的第一篇读经选自索福尼亚先知书，他是旧约十二小先知之一，他苦劝百姓悔改，要求人内心的改革，叫人以良善谦逊的心依赖天主，这恰好是新约「真福八端」的一个预告。

Agricola denied even this function of the law, believing that repentance should be induced only through the preaching of the gospel of salvation by grace through faith in Christ.

The Pagan religion indeed, which prohibited only some of the grosser crimes, and which stopped the hand but meddled not with the heart, might have crimes that were inexpiable; but a religion which bridles all the passions; which is not more jealous of actions than of thoughts and desires; which holds us not by a few chains but by an infinite number of threads; which, leaving human justice aside, establishes another kind of justice; which is so ordered as to lead us continually from repentance to love, and from love to repentance; which puts between the judge and the criminal a greater mediator, between the just and the mediator a great judge — a religion like this ought not to have inexpiable crimes.

事实上异教只是禁止几种重大的罪行，它们阻止人的行为却不进入人的内心，所以很可能产生不可救赎的罪行；但是一种将所有的激情都系上缰绳的宗教；它对思想和欲望的戒备如同对行为的戒备；它不是通过几条铁链来托住我们而不让我们堕落，它用的是无数的丝；它将人类自认为的正义搁置一边，建立起了另一种正义；它是如此有秩序的引导我们持续的从悔改到爱，并从爱到悔改；它在法官与犯罪者之间建立了一个更大的裁判者，在正当行为和裁判者之间建立了一个伟大的法官——这样的宗教应该就不会有不可救赎的罪了。

Let us be diverted by none of those sophistical contrivances wherewith we are so industriously plied and belabored--contrivances such as groping for some middle ground between the right and the wrong; vain as the search for a man who should be neither a living man nor a dead man; such as a policy of "don't care" on a question about which all true men do care; such as Union appeals beseeching true Union men to yield to Disunionists, reversing the Divine rule, and calling, not the sinners, but the righteous to repentance; such as invocations to Washington, imploring men to unsay what Washington said, and undo what Washington did.

决不要被那些一直困扰著我们的精心策划的诡计转移我们的方向，这些诡计多得很，例如在是和非之间找一个中间立场，这就像找一个既不是死人也不是活人的人一样枉费心机；就好像对一个所有正直的人都要关心的问题采取「不在乎」的政策；就像是以联邦的名义呼吁真正拥护联邦的人服从分裂主义者，把神圣的原则颠倒过来，不是叫有罪的人悔改，反而叫正直的人悔改；就像是要召请华盛顿的亡灵，恳求人们收回他所说的话，取消他所做的事。

I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sier that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just perso, which need no repentance.

15：7 我告诉你们，一个罪人悔改，在天上也要这样为他欢喜，较比为九十九个不用悔改的义人，欢喜更大。

Therefore repent; or else I am coming to you quickly, and I will make war against them with the sword of My mouth.

启2：16 所以你当悔改、若不悔改、我就快临到你那里、用我口中的剑、攻击他们。

Repent therefore; but if not, I am coming to you quickly, and I will make war with them with the sword of My mouth.

Now all are called to repentance, and the hope of salvation is promised them when they repent: this is true, since God rejects no returning sinner: he pardons all without exception; meanwhile, this will of God which he sets forth in his word does not prevent him from decreeing before the world was created what he would do with every individual...

现在所有的都悔改，并希望救恩是答应他们的时候，他们有悔改表现：这是真实的，因为上帝没有拒绝返回罪人：他赦免都无例外，同时，这个上帝的意志，他阐述了他的字是否不阻止他颁布之前，世界是怎样创造的，他会跟每一个人。。。

We must cry out to the Father, repenting for our nation, for what we allowed to happen to our children.
