沈阳至大连高速公路改扩建工程路面表面层采用沥青玛蹄脂碎石混合料SMA- 16型(简称SMA - 16 )，沥青采用SBS改性沥青，是在科学试验的基础上，结合沈大路自身的特点所做的重大决策；它不仅适合沈大路交通量大、温差变化大等环境因素对路面的要求，而且对路面的抗滑性和耐久性均有很大的提高，保证了路面的使用功能。
