The obvious heterosis was shown in eggplant(Solanum melongena L.). Production of hybrid seeds using male-sterility as female parent was a very important way in application of eggplant heterosis.

Some field samples of Solanaceae collected from Zhejiang and Shanxi Provinces were detected by DAS-ELISA and biological tests, results showed that ToMV was a common pathogen of tomato and eggplant. About 50%of detected Solanum melongena samples had ToMV both in Zhejiang and Shanxi provinces.However,there was a significant difference between tomato samples from Zhejiang and Shanxi provinces.In Zhejiang province, only about 10%of samples were infected by ToMV, while the numbers of infected samples were above 60%in Shanxi.

利用此检测系统并结合生物学方法，对浙江及山西等地的田间病样进行测定，结果发现茄子、番茄等茄科作物中均有ToMV的侵染，其中茄子中有50%左右的发生率，番茄中ToMV发生率南北差异较大，在浙江发生率仅为10%左右，而在山西有60.7%的发生率，辣椒中未测到ToMV。

But the extent and the time of midday depression were different. The stomatal conductance, transpiratory rate, intercellular CO2 concentration, and air CO2 concentration of eggplant leave were decreased when midday depression was happened, but photosynthetic active radiation and leaf temperature were maximum. The reasons of midday depression of eggplant leaves were stomatal factors.

结果表明，茄子晴天Pn日变化无论品种是否相同、生育期是否相同、叶位是否相同（上部叶片、中部叶片和底部叶片），无一例外地表现为&双峰&曲线，即有光合&午休&现象存在，只是&午休&的时间和程度上有差异；光合&午休&时气孔导度、蒸腾速率、细胞间隙CO2浓度、大气CO2浓度均下降，而光合有效辐射和叶片温度此时几乎处于最大值，茄子光合&午休&是由气孔因素引起的。
