奶妈

First of all, many of us have heard that some of nannies fed to the children of the rich, but starved the children of themselves to death in the past.

The term is often used to refer to the support available outside the family to help parents to care for dependent children. It includes day nurseries and playgroups, as well as care by childminders and nannies. However, as much care is provided by grandmothers as is provided by all other sources of childcare put together (Pahl 1999:181). Therefore, childcare may refer to services that provide daytime care of pre-school children, often while their parents are working. In this sense, childcare covers day nurseries, nursery schools and classes, childminders and playgroups. Providers include local government, voluntary agencies and private individuals or organizations.
