ABSTRACT In this paper, an investigation on the helical ports was carried out in a steady-flow rig. The three velocity Components of air flow through the intake valve of several typical helical ports were measured by hot-wire anemometry for analysing the relationships between intake port geometry and swirl level as well as flow resistance.
