Using four different Na_2CO_3 concentration as simulating alkaline stress,the relative alkali damage rate of rice germinative energy and germination rate at germination period,RADR of rice root length,seedling height and root number at early seedling stage were looked as evaluation indexes,so the alkaline stress concentration for evaluation of alkaline tolerance at germination period and early seedling stage in rice was studied.

The results indicate that Ca(superscript 2+) and GA3, single or combined application treatments, promote cucumber seed germination treated with P. harmala alkaloid, increase germination rate, germination vigor and index; as well as α-amylase, protease, lipase, isocitratelyase, nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide kinase and Ca(superscript 2+)-ATPase activities; and GA and CaM content in cucumber seeds; but decrease abscisic acid content. The synergistic effects of combined Ca(superscript 2+) and GA3 on increasing GA and decreasing ABA are oberseved compared with Ca(superscript 2+) treatment.

Result In 5 kinds of chemical treatments, treating Z. macrostachya seeds with 20 % NaOH solution for 20 min and then cleaning the seeds with clear water got the best effect of breaking seed dormancy.
