Letter of credit means a definite undertaking that satisfies some formal requirements atthe request or for the account of an applicant or,in the case of a financial institution,to itselfor for its own account,to honor a documentary presentation by payment or delivery or anitem of value,and it is a kind of mechanism to pay the beneficiary by the presentation of theparticular documents and independent of the underlying transaction,and so is the standbyletter of credit.
