This paper firstly discusses the principle of UWB pulse array beamforming. Then a beamforming scheme is presented based on multi-rate filter bank, which is suitable for UWB pulse signals. The proposed method avoids the hardness of delays control in time domain, and can obtain the uniform frequency invariant array response in such a wideband for UWB signals.

Based on the scheme, we have fabricated successfully many phase elements in LiNbO3: Fe, such as photorefractive phase mask, phasing zone plate, lens array, Daman grating and array waveguides, ring and elliptic waveguides and so on.
