According to their individual shapes, they are Gram positive, catenulate rod-shaped bacteria that can produce elliptical endospore in the middle position. These characteristics are similar to Bacillus cereus' described in Bergey's Manual of Systematic Bacteriology. And the colony States, physiological and biochemical characteristics of the two strains also accord with Bacillus cereus', which suggests that they might be identified as Bacillus cereus.

通过菌株的个体形态观察，发现这两株菌是可以在细胞中间产生不膨胀的椭圆形芽孢的革兰氏阳性杆菌，且相互成链，这与伯杰氏手册中对蜡状芽孢杆菌的描述相似，另外对这两株菌的培养特征、生理生化特征的研究，也表明这两株菌符合蜡状芽孢杆菌的特性，故初步鉴定这两株菌为蜡状芽孢杆菌。

A strain HH407 which could production cold-active alkaline protease, was isolated from the sea area of Lianyungang. Then, the identification and physiological characterization of the strain HH407 were studied. The results showed that the strain HH407 was gram negative, rod shaped, aerobic, with a single polar flagellum, neither endospore nor capsule formed, about 0.4~0.7 μm×1.0~1.8 μm in size. The colony on screening medium were circular, yellow color, smooth, translucent, convex with regular edges.
