Partly it has great practical value – you can wrap it around you for warmth as you bound across the cold moons of Jaglan Beta; you can lie on it on the brilliant marble-sanded beaches of Santraginus V, inhaling the heady sea vapours; you can sleep under it beneath the stars which shine so redly on the desert world of Kakrafoon; use it to sail a mini raft down the slow heavy river Moth; wet it for use in hand-to-hand-combat; wrap it round your head to ward off noxious fumes or to avoid the gaze of the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal (a mindboggingly stupid animal, it assumes that if you can't see it, it can't see you – daft as a bush, but very ravenous); you can wave your towel in emergencies as a distress signal, and of course dry yourself off with it if it still seems to be clean enough.

When I began to work on the Sikhism texts, my dog Yukie has just acquired cancer. I knew then, it will be his final work. When I search the word of "dog" in the Holy Scripture, there were three pages of result to my surprise. In the most part of the texts, it describes the filthiness and greediness of dogs. Certainly, I am not saying Yukie is filthy and greedy, in contrast I feel that he represents purity and innocence. The intention of the work is not meant to be disrespectful toward Sikhism. Merely thinking upon that Yukie is going to die; allowing him to talk about his faults might be a way of confession.

在做这作品时，我的狗yukie已经得了癌症，我知道这将是它最后的作品，所以在做这作品时，用狗这字搜寻，没想到出现了三页的文句，大部分是描写它的污秽及贪婪的部份，我并不是说yukie是个污秽及贪婪的狗，相反地我觉得它代表了圣洁与天真，当然也不是对锡克教不敬，只是想起yukie要死了，让它说说自己的不是，该有忏悔的功能吧！

Some are consumed with avarice all the day, but the just man gives unsparingly.

贪婪的人，终日贪婪；正义的人，广施不吝。

There is first to note that, whereas in other principalities the ambition of the nobles and the insolence of the people only have to be contended with, the Roman emperors had a third difficulty in having to put up with the cruelty and avarice of their soldiers, a matter so beset with difficulties that it was the ruin of many; for it was a hard thing to give satisfaction both to soldiers and people; because the people loved peace, and for this reason they loved the unaspiring prince, whilst the soldiers loved the warlike prince who was bold, cruel, and rapacious, which qualities they were quite willing he should exercise upon the people, so that they could get double pay and give vent to their own greed and cruelty.

首先应该注意的是：在别的国家里，君主只需要同贵族的野心、同人民的傲慢不逊进行斗争就行了，可是罗马的皇帝们却有第三种困难：必须容忍他们的军队的残暴与贪婪，而这是一件很困难的事情。它曾经是很多皇帝灭亡的原因，因为要同时满足军队和人民这两方面是困难的。这是因为人民酷爱和平，所以总是喜爱温和谦逊的君主；而另一方面，军队却喜欢具有尚武精神的、残暴贪婪的君主。军队希望君主用后一种品性对待人民，使自己能够获得加倍的军饷，让自己的贪心和残酷性得逞。
