The accepted formula for a Sling is " a Collins sweetened with both sugar syrup and a flavoured liqueur". Slings occasionally have bitters and/or egg white added to the recipe, although this is less common with Slings than with sours, fizzes or Collinses. For rum-based Slings, many prefer Angostura bitters; for gin, vodka and brandy-based Slings orange bitters are a popular choice; for bourbon-based Slings peach bitters are said to be the most fitting. Many people prefer Slings made with lime juice.
