在船头

It was a dismal Sight to look at: The Ship, which by its building was Spanish, stuck fast, jaum'd in between two Rocks; all the Stern and Quarter of her was beaten to pieces, with the Sea; and as her Forecastle, which stuck in the Rocks, had run on with great Violence, her Mainmast and Foremast were brought by the Board; that is to say, broken short off; but her Boltsprit was found, and the Head and Bow appear'd firm; when I came close to her, a Dog appear'd upon her, who seeing me coming, yelp'd, and cry'd; and as soon as I call'd him, jump'd into the Sea, to come to me, and I took him into the Boat; but found him almost dead for Hunger and Thirst: I gave him a Cake of my Bread, and he eat it like a ravenous Wolf, that had been starving a Fortnight in the Snow: I then gave the poor Creature some fresh Water, with which, if I would have let him, he would have burst himself.

The Prophet said, A single endeavor in Allah's Cause in the afternoon or in the forenoon is better than all the world and whatever is in it. A place in Paradise as small as the bow or lash of one of you is better than all the world and whatever is in it.

Others took up the mats covering the platform, shook them to leeward, lash them down again in a seamanlike manner, and heaved on the forestays, now slackening with the heat of the sun, while a third party brought up small pigs,edible dogs and fowls, in baskets, mostly from larboard hull, and arranged them on the forward part of the deck where they sat good and quite, as ship-borne animals so often do.

另一些人把铺在平台上的席子拿起来，在下风处摇晃一番，再象水兵那样，把席子重新用绳子扎牢，又开始拉紧前桅支索，因为太阳的烤晒，现在前桅支索已经变松了。第三组女人把篮子里装的小猪、菜狗和家禽，从左舷船身里运上来，再把这些都安排在靠近船头那边的甲板上，这些猪狗和家禽都安静地坐着，海上出生的动物经常就是这样的。

The wind sang in the taut weather-rigging, and blustered around Bush's ears as he stood on the starboard side of the quarterdeck, balancing to the roll as the roaring wind sent one massive grey wave after another hurrying at the ship; the starboard bow received the wave first, beginning a leisurely climb, heaving the bowsprit up towards the sky, but before the pitch was in any way completed the ship began her roll, heaving slowly over, slowly, slowly, while the bowsprit rose still more steeply.

Here, powder-soft beaches are flecked with starfish, shells and coral, and fringed by palms, hibiscus, sea grape and ylang-ylang which scent the air. In the crystal clear waters of the lagoon, baby sharks and the occasional ray swim among shoals of trumpet fish; further out to sea dolphin and flying fish leap before the prows of local dhoni boats.

他听他讲深海捕鱼，用一哩长的大网捞起银光闪闪的鱼群；听他讲突如其来的危险，在月黑风高的夜晚，排山巨浪的狂吼，还有大雾天头顶上忽地冒出巨轮高耸的船头；听他讲返回故里的欢乐，船头绕过海岬，驶进灯火通明的海港；码头上人影晃动，人群在欢呼，大缆索啪地甩了过去，水沫四溅；他们吃力地走上陡峭的小街，向那挂红窗幔的温煦快意的灯光走去。
