In this paper, using Dragon's constitutive equation and the proposed friction-induced plasticity theory in this paper, a more simple coupling model on elastic damage and friction -induced plasticity is presented for rocklike materials. An example for validity is given and shows the agreement with Dragon's results.

To understand the basic properties, underlying mechanisms and functions of the short-term synaptic plasticity of thalamocortical visual pathway, we combined in vivo field potential recording, focal drug application technique and neuron models, to explore the short-tem synaptic plasticity of rat major thalamocortical visual pathway (from lateral geniculate nucleus to primary visual cortex) and extrageniculate pathway (from lateral posterior nucleus to primary visual cortex), as well as the role of short-term depression in the neuronal correlated firing detection.

In order to disclose the adaptive strategies and capacity of Potaninia mongolica Maxim, acquired during its evolution history, the whole response system, which was composed of individual morphology plasticity response, organs anatomy structure response, physiological function response of anti-arid and anti-hotness, activities of protective enzymes response, endogenous hormone adjustment response, sexual reproduction strategies response of seeding, dispreading, sprouting and renewing, asexual reproduction strategies response of clonal growth patterns, clonal growth architectures, clonal growth architectures plasticity, heterogeneous resources utilization strategies, endogenous hormone distribution in clonal organs, foraging behavior, risk-spreading, and resource sharing, individual density allocation patterns response, niche differentiation response, species connection response, allelopathy response and biodiversity components response of the plant was profoundly explored in this paper.The studies come to at least four important results:(1) Taking the sensitive response and evading strategy to adapt to environment stress, Potaninia mongolica Maxim is a successful species has lived through the long-term evolution. Nevertheless, it is narrow climate and soil niche and characteristic of vegetation reproduction which has made the plant a rare and endangered species.

The analysis of some company"s hose failures indicates that 70% of the failures are caused by leakage between the hose and the fitting. In order to solve the hose fitting leakage problems of the hose assemblies, the experimentation has been carried out and the conclusion is that the fitting"s intension is not strong enough to prevent leakage. Plasticity theory is utilized to analyze the relationship of the working pressure of the hose, the connector material and the geometric dimensions. The calculation about crimp power of the hose assemblies is found, and the suggestions for assembly are given according to plasticity principle, also the program for analysis of fittings intension is developed with AutoLisp which runs in AutoCAD.
