The chapter two was focused on the samarium diiodide promoted organic reactions and their applications in organic synthesis, firstly, a new synthesis of highly substituted cyclopentadienes from a,β-alkynone promoted by samarium diiodide was investigated and the highly substituted cyclopentadienes were prepared in moderate to good yields under mild conditions. Secondly, the Michael addition and Michael-aldol tandem reaction of diorganyl diselenides or diorganyl disulfides with α,β-alkynones mediated by samarium diiodide were studied and a series of alkenylsulfides and alkenylselenides were prepared in good yields. Then the highly regioselecfive nucleophilic addition of the allylsamarium bromide to α,β-alkynones were explored. We found that the allylsamarium bromide reacts with α,β-alkynones to afford regiospecificly 1. 2-nucleophilic addition products in good yields under mild condition. At last we studied the coupling reaction of aryl halides promoted by NiCl〓/PPh〓/Sm〓.

The mean birth weight and gestational age was (1256.3±196.8) g and (29.583 3±1.543 6) weeks in ROP group, and (1337.8±146) g and (31.217 4±2.430 6) weeks in control group, respectively. In 39 ecdemic infants, 32 were found with ROP (82.1%, 1 with mild and 31 with severe ROP) while in 91 local infants, 28 were found with ROP (30.8%, 15 with mild and 13 with severe ROP).

In Comlex model group the endangium plaque were widespread, while in that of High cholesterol group there was only single small plaque. The pathological heart changes of both High cholesterol group and Complex model group weren't obvious, with mild oedema and small fat drops. The liver cells of High cholesterol group showed mild oedema, while fat drops in the liver of Complex model group were more typical.

Results The model showed serious edema, proteinuria, hypoproteinemia, and hyperlipidemia. Podocytes were swollen and mesangial cells developed mild hyperplasia at the end of the fourth week. The nephric tubule atrophied at the end of the eighth week accompanied with adhesion between glomeruli and Bowman's capsule. Glomeruli sclerosis of mild or medium degree was observed at the end of the twelfth week with obvious lymphocyte infiltration in the renal interstitium as well as the formation of collagen fibers.

Unfortunately, the chances of LESI being beneficial for patients with severe stenosis are far less."
