The system utilized four laser scanners along lengthwise direction of the log. Data are obtained in every ten degrees when log is turning, in each cross section, 36 data are obtained. This article adopts LOG operator as edge-detect operator. First, Guass operator is used to smooth the original image and reduce the noise, then Laplace operator is applied to the result smoothed, thus the anti-noise function of the algorithm is improved.
