With the comparison between Western and Chinese classical literatures , this paper points out that there is a fundamental difference between the two FIRE images. The FIRE image in western literature is featured by the obvious spirituality, whereas the FIRE image in Chinese literature is featured by secularity. But the traits of the both images of FIRE have changed more or less in the 20th century.
