All the photos and dairy have been lost forever. I don't remember how many times I woke up in the middle of the night with pictures in my head of either the golden leaves in a brook in Hemu, or the wildlife running above snowline in Ngari, or the faces of a kazakh family which I stayed with.....

我已记不清有多少次夜半醒来，脑子里是和木的白桦林里一条静静的小溪里漂浮的几片金色的叶子，或是阿里无人区5千多米海拔雪线上好奇的看着我的一只孤零零的藏野驴，或是我曾落脚几天的一个哈萨克人家的憨憨的脸庞。。。。。

By using NOAA-AVHRR and EOS-MODIS data from May to August,1997-2004,spectrum characteristics of snow and ice are judged and analyzed,statistics of snow-cover area of three basins in the Qilian Mountains are made,and,by analyzing 8-year precipitation and altitude data,the snowline latitude-dependence is found.

利用1997—2004年5~8月的NOAA-AVHRR和EOS-MODIS卫星资料、周遍气象台站气象数据、人工增雨雪等相关资料，对河西内陆河流域上游的祁连山区积雪、冰川的光谱特征进行了判识，并分析了积雪面积和雪线高度变化。

In this paper,based mainly on the heights above sea level of the upper limits of the modern dark coniferous forest zones in some mountainous regions and the climatic data obtained from 102 meteorological stations in China,the theoretic altitude of the forest line has been calculated and maps showing the altitude isolines of the forest line,the isolines of height differences between the permafrost limits and the forest line and the isolines of height differences between the modern climatic snowline and the forest line in China have been constructed respectively.

本文主要根据我国一些地区现代暗针叶林带上限的海拔高程和102个气象台站的气象资料，计算出我国的森林线的理论海拔高度，并编绘出我国的森林线高程等值线图以及多年冻土线与森林线高差等值线图和现代气候雪线与森林线高差等值线图。

In comparison with the observations derived from NOAA AVHRR, under the framework of NCAR CLM3, SCF schemes like CLM3 default, Douville1995, and Roesch 2001 underestimate SCF over vast areas, snow lines simulated in these three schemes are located to the south of that in the AVHRR observation, especially in autumn when snow pack begins to establish; Wu2004 scheme also underestimates SCF in the Eurasian continent in autumn; Yang1997 scheme slightly overestimates SCF, especially along the southern border of the snow covered area; Niu2007 scheme which accounts for the seasonal variation of snow density overcomes the positive bias of SCF simulated by Yang1997 scheme to some extent.

结果表明，在NCAR CLM3的物理过程框架之下，CLM3、Douville1995、Roesch2001三种方案低估了广大地区的积雪覆盖率，模拟的雪线位置偏北，尤其是在秋季积雪初期；Wu2004方案低估了秋季欧亚大陆的积雪覆盖率；Yang1997方案模拟的积雪覆盖率有些偏高，尤其是在积雪覆盖区的南部边缘；考虑积雪密度变化的Niu2007方案一定程度上克服了Yang1997方案的正偏差。
