It only took 38 months from construction preparation at the end of October, 2001 to the first unit operating on December 20, 2004, which antedated the construction time limit by 7 months. During the period, 5-month-construction period delayed was saved because of the karst geological problems of dam's partial foundation. 3 units were put into operation in 2005, especially it only took 23 days from the runner of 4# unit hoisted to put into operation. It created the wonder of installing large axial-flow feathering unit.

乐滩电站从2001年10月底开始施工准备到2004年12月20日首台机组投产发电，仅用38个月的时间，比合理工期提前了7个月，并在此期间，抢回因厂坝部份地基岩溶地质问题延误的5个月工期。2005年又实现了年内3台机组投产发电，尤其4号机组从转轮吊装到机组并网发电，仅用23天，创造了大型轴流转桨机组安装奇迹。
