Moreover, the way Hong Kong people situate themselves between their ethnic identity and their national identity is discernibly complicated. On the one hand, they tend to raise their ethnic identity above their national identity, seeing themselves more "Hongkongese" than Chinese, and defining China from the perspective of Hong Kong.
