The mice in experimental group and control group were exposed to 350 cGy radiation produced by 60Co. After 3 h, karyocytes at different concentrations in the fresh human umbilical cord blood were injected into the mice in experimental group A, B, C via their tail veins, and the equal volume of normal sodium was also injected into control group via tail veins. Results:(1) Progesterone-treated models showed intact nasal mucosa, regular ciliary lining and inactive glands;(2) Untreated or normal saline treated models showed disrupted mucosa, inverted cilia and massive mucosal infiltration of neutrophils;(3) Smearing of nasal discharge revealed limited vs abundant number of neutrophils in SD models treated with progesterone vs untreated or treated with normal saline.(4) Hoechst stain: significantly fewer apoptotic cells per field were found in progesterone-treated models (1.583 ± 0.28) compared with untreated or normal saline treated models (2.85 ± 0.285 and 4.8 ± 0.715, respectively).

Semi-quantitative study was used to detect the expression level of EWS/FLI1 mRNA in the other 9 positive patients, and metastases occurred in 6 high-level expression patients in 2-24 months after the operation, no evidence of metastases in the other 3 low-level expression patients up to now.
