For 480 days of decomposition, the decomposition rate was highest in soil with medium fertility and lowest in soil with low fertility among three type of fertility. The decomposition of water soluble factions and lignin were promoted in medium fertility soil. However, alcohol-benzene soluble fraction, and semi-cellulose and cellulose fraction were decayed acceleratedly in soil with high fertility. Furthermore, more humic substance was formed and energy states of decayed corn stalk was highest in soil with high fertility.

The soil urease and invertase activity effected by Hg was investigated in different fertility soils. The results show that soil urease activity、maximum reaction velocity (Vmax、Vmax/Km) and reaction velocity constant k have remarkably negative correlation with Hg concentration so that these can be used as ecological indexes of soil polluted by Hg, Km changes a little indicating that the reaction mechanism of Hg and urease is nonreversible competitive restraint. Urease of low soil fertility is more damaged by Hg than that of high soil fertility, with severe pollution at Hg concentration of 6.00 and 14.79mg/kg respectively; while invertase is less sensitive to Hg than urease. Cultural time has less influence on the relationship of soil enzyme and Hg concentration.

The QTL controlling spikelet fertility and pollen fertility were investigated based on the Balilla/NTH//Balilla backcross population by SSR marker. For spikelet fertility trait, two QTLs, qSPTF1 on chromosome 1 and qSPTF6 on chromosome 6, were detected, and their additive effect were 13. 501 and -16. 414, respectively. According to previous studies, qSPTF6 was deduced to be same as S〓.
