At present, Microsoft WAB and Outlook address book are the ones used more popular, however some address books are incompatible, that is, the format of one kind of address book can not be imported to the other. In this article, MAPI (messaging application programming interface) provided by Microsoft is discussed for exploring how to adopt this COM component technology and XML to realise an address book management tool which is simple but supporting multiple formats.
