A new method of fuel design to control HCCI combustion was given. n-heptane/iso-octane was controlled real-time on a single-cylinder HCCI combustion engine. The test result shows that the equivalence ratio of n-heptane in mixture decides the HCCI ignition and controls the combustion phase of HCCI.
