For two continuous casting billets of typical stainless sheets (304 and 0Cr13), three positions including the edge, 1/2 and 1/4 along the thickness were spectroscopically analyzed through successive layer and multiple point modes. The uniformity of lumpish continuous casting billet sample was studied by statistical analysis and the major factors influencing the accuracy of spectral analysis were discussed.
