This Paper mainly studies on 967 students abroad who were born, had studied Jived, worked in Su Zhou in the period from 1894 to 1949, analyzing their first time and age of going abroad, the countries and specialties they studied, the degrees and their outstanding achievements attained through the ways of history, sociology and statistics.
本文以近现代(1894年～1949年期间)在苏州出生、学习和生活过的967名苏州留学生的资料为主要研究对象，采用历史学、社会学、统计学的方法，分析了他们首次出国的时间、年龄、留学国家、留学专业、专业学位获得情况以及留学后取得的重要成就。
