鹰属

鹰科(Accipitridae)鹰属(Accipiter)的强壮鹰类. 翅短,林栖,主要捕食鸽子等鸟类和野兔,也能猎取松鸡和狐等大型猎物. 体长可达60cm,翼展约1.3m. 见于整个北半球温带森林及寒带森林,但在不列颠群岛已经罕见,在北美的数量亦在减少.

南极圈(Antarctic Circle) 即南纬66°34′纬线圈. 这是南半球上发生极昼、极夜现象最北的界线. 南极圈以南的区域,阳光斜射,虽然有一段时间太阳总在地平线上照射(极昼),但正午太阳高度角也是很小,因而获得太阳热量很少,为南寒带.
