1806年,Alibert 借取希腊"蟹足肿"(crab claw)的形象创建了"瘢痕疙瘩"(keloid)这个名词. Cosman等在1961年首次系统复习了有关瘢痕疙瘩的资料,具体描述了瘢痕疙瘩的表现特征和治疗方法. 此后,Mancini和Peacock等详细描述了瘢痕疙瘩与增生性瘢痕的差别.

keloid：瘢痕瘤

瘢痕瘤(keloid)发生在有瘢痕体质的个体,对皮肤外伤出现过度反应,表现为纤维组织过度增生,蔓延超过伤口,玻璃样变,且不能自然消退. 在中医上称为蟹足肿或巨痕症,也常称为瘢痕疙瘩.
