The Arctic is a desolate and beautiful place to live, one moment echoing with the crunching roar of grinding ice, another refracting low sunlight into a rainbow of colours.

At 10:55 on May 6, 1995, 3 red signal flares rose high into the sky when China's National Flag appeared for the first time at the North Pole. This was Wei Menghua's achievement.
