In this paper, we propose a new approach to spoken Chinese understanding which combines statistical and rule-based methods. In this approach, the semantic classification trees which are built by the semantic rules automatically learned from the training data are used to disambiguate key words related to the sentences' shallow semantic meaning, and then, a statistical model is used to extract the whole sentence's domain action.

The main objective of this dissertation was to develop methodologies with capability of engineering application for simulating flow in fractured rock using discontinuum models. The study work includes three parts. In the first part, numerical methodology of three-dimensional discrete fracture network model casing on hybrid BEM-channel was presented, and the technique for improve the model's computing efficiency was also studied. Firstly in this part, computer simulation methodology based on the Baechermodel for generating network of discrete fractures was presented, which includes the follow details: probability distributions of fracture density,orientation, trace length, size, and aperture and estimation of their statistical parameters; stochastic models of fracture network; Monte-Carlo's simulation method; numerical simulation procedure and technicality.

The paper studies the distribution characteristics and determinants of job vacancies. The parameter estimation is based on the two-stage Tobit procedure. The main statistical results are as follows: There is a positive correlation between the hiring scale and job vacancy incidence, while there is a negative correlation between the qualification vacancy rate and the hiring scale. The higher the labor turnover rate in units, the higher the job vacancy incidences and the vacancy rates are. The 98.39% of institutions with prospects have labor needs, and 39.53% of units declining say they will hire new staff. After decomposing the Theil Index which reflects the gaps among vacancy rates, the differences among vacancy rates of different units are mainly from the inner causes of various groups, and the intergroup reasons are not main ones.
