For this project, in virtue of the experimental observations on the vertical vibrator,the invert torsion pendulum and the vertical pipe with capillary outlet,and by using numerical simulations of the discrete element method, the mixing and segregation of granular materials of spherical and neraly spherical shape with the different size and different density under the vertical vibration or parallel shear motion have been researched, and the relationship between the macroscopic segregation properties and the microscopic characteristics of granular materials and the outer actions has also explored.
