Six men of Hindustan 六名男子印度斯坦

To learning much inclined 要学习很多倾斜

went to see the Elephant 去看大象

Though all of them were blind 虽然他们都是瞎子

That each by observation 每个通过观察

Might satisfy his mind 可能会满足他的头脑

Satisfy his mind, satisfy his mind 满足他的心意，满足他的头脑

To learning much inclined 要学习很多倾斜

   

Well the First approached the Elephant 以及第一次走近大象

And happening to fall 而发生在下降

Against his broad and sturdy side 对他的广泛和坚固的侧

At once began to bawl 马上开始呶

"God bless me! “上帝保佑我！

But this Elephant is very like a wall!" 不过，这头大象是非常像一堵墙！ “

   

And the Second, feeling of the tusk 第二，感觉象牙的

Cried, "Ho! what have we here 叫道，“嗬！什么都有，我们在这里

So very round and smooth and sharp 所以很圆滑和犀利

To me 'tis mighty clear 对我来说，这是一件伟大清晰

This wonder of an Elephant is very like a spear!" 大象的这个奇迹非常像矛！ “

The Third approached the animal 第三走近动物

And happening to take 而发生在采取

The squirming trunk within his hands 在他的手中辗转干线

Thus boldly up his spake 因此大胆了他的说话

"I see," quoth he “我明白了，”他答曰

"The Elephant is very like a snake!" “大象是非常像一条蛇！ ”

   

Then the Fourth reached out an eager hand 然后第四伸出的手跃跃欲试

and felt about the knee 并认为有关的膝盖

"What most this wondrous beast is like “然而，大多数在这个奇妙的野兽一样

Is mighty plain," quoth he 是辽阔的平原“，答曰他

"'Tis clear enough the Elephant is very like a tree!" “幸好清楚的大象非常像一棵树！ ”

   

And the Fifth who chanced to touch the ear 和第五谁碰巧碰到耳朵

Said: "Even the blindest man 说： “即使是最盲目的人

Can tell what this resembles most 可以告诉这个最相似

Deny the fact who can 否认的事实谁也

This marvel of an Elephant is very like a fan!" 大象的这个奇迹是非常像一个球迷！ “

   

And the Sixth no sooner had begun 而第六不早开始

about the beast to grope 关于兽摸索

Seizing on the swinging tail 抓住摆动尾巴

that fell within his scope 落在他的范围之内

"I see," quoth he, "the Elephant is very like a rope!" “我明白了，”他答曰：“大象是非常喜欢绳子！ ”

And so these men of Hindustan 印度斯坦等等这些人

Disputed loud and long 有争议的响亮和长

Each in his opinion 每一个在他看来

Exceeding stiff and strong 超刚性强

Each was partly in the right 每个部分是正确的

but all were in the wrong 但均在错误

   

So often theologic wars, 所以很多时候theologic战争，

The disputants, I ween 在纠纷当事人，我威恩

Rail on in utter ignorance 铁在完全无知

Of what each other mean 什么对方均值

And prate about an Elephant 与叨叨关于大象

Not one of them has seen! 他们没有一个人见过！
