One mornin' at breakfast, I said to my wife 一个早上，吃早饭，我对妻子说：

"And there's a bunch of our boys over there." “还有一帮我们男生在那边。 ”

So we went to the Orient: Saigon 于是我们去了东方：西贡

   

Well we got a big welcome when we drove in 好了，我们有一个大的欢迎，当我们驱车在

Through the gates of a place that they call Long Vinh 经过一个地方，他们叫龙荣门

We checked in and everything got kinda quiet 我们检查了，一切得还挺安静

But a soldier boy said: "Just wait 'til tonight 但一名士兵男孩说：“等着吧”直到今晚

"Things get noisy. Things start happenin' “事情变得嘈杂。事情开始happenin

"Big bad firecrackers." “大事不好了鞭炮。 ”

   

Well that night we did about four shows for the boys 嗯，那天晚上我们做了大约四场为男孩

And they were livin' it up with a whole lot of noise 而他们活着的话它有一大堆的噪音

We did our last song for the night 我们做了我们的最后一首歌了一夜

And we crawled into bed for some peace and quiet 我们爬上床了一些和平和宁静

But things weren't peaceful. And things weren't quiet 但事情并不太平。而事情并不安静

Things were scary 事情是可怕的

   

Well for a few minutes June never said one word 好几分钟六月从来没有说过一个字

And I thought at first that she hadn't heard 我原先以为她没有听到

Then a shell exploded not two miles away 然后，外壳没有爆炸两英里远

She sat up in bed and I heard her say: "What was that?" 她从床上坐起来，我听到她说： “那是什么？ ”

I said: "That was a shell, or a bomb." 我说： “这是一个外壳，或者炸弹。 ”

She said: "I'm scared." I said "Me too." 她说：“我害怕。 ”我说：“我也是。 ”

   

Well all night long that noise kept on 好了一整夜的噪音不断

And the sound would chill you right to the bone 而且声音会放松你的权利骨

The bullets and the bombs, and the mortar shells 子弹和炸弹，迫击炮弹

Shook our bed every time one fell 每次一下跌震撼我们的床

And it never let up; it was gonna get worse 它从不松懈;它会变得更糟

Before it got any better 在此之前有任何更好的

   

Well when the sun came up, the noise died down 好了，当太阳升起来时，噪声偃旗息鼓

We got a few minutes sleep, an' we were sleepin' sound 我们得到了一个几分钟的睡眠，一个“我们睡的声音

When a soldier knocked on our door and said: 当一个士兵敲我们的门，说：

So we went to the hospital ward by day 于是我们去了医院病房一天

And the helicopters brought in the wounded men 而直升机在伤兵带来

And reluctantly we said: "So long." 和不情愿，我们说：“再见。 ”

We did our best to let 'em know that we care 我们尽最大努力让他们知道我们关心

Whether we belong over there or not 不管我们属于那边还是没有
